RED ID
In some prison systems, a "red ID" or an inmate wearing a red identification card or wristband could indicate a high-security risk or a history of violent behavior. These identifiers are used to help staff and guards recognize inmates who may require extra monitoring or who pose a heightened threat to others or themselves.
SPECIAL HOUSING UNIT
A Special Housing Unit (SHU), often referred to as "the hole" or "segregation," is a high-security area within a prison where inmates are housed separately from the general population. Inmates may be placed in a SHU for various reasons, such as disciplinary punishment, protective custody, or to separate them due to security risks.
BANGA
In prison slang, "banga" generally refers to a homemade weapon, typically a knife or other sharp object used for self-defense or attacks. It's sometimes called a "shank" or "shiv" and is often crafted from available materials within the prison environment.
